A High Court judge has found that former Home Secretary Suella Braverman acted unlawfully in accommodating three asylum seekers at a former RAF base. The judge ruled that the government failed to take into account the claimants’ experiences of torture, mental health conditions, and disabilities. The three men, who were housed at MDP Wethersfield in Essex, argued that they were living in “prison-like” conditions and were not assessed for their individual needs. The government has said it is pleased that the court found in its favour on the majority of grounds, but the charity Humans For Rights Network has called the accommodation “inhumane”.
