A teacher who had a knife pulled on him by a pupil says classroom behaviour is at its worst in his 20 years of teaching. He says behaviour has disintegrated over the last 20 years, you get verbally abused on a daily basis. I’ve had a knife pulled on me in one class, I’ve had youngsters ignore me entirely. He also claims pupils with additional learning needs are being placed in mainstream schools, causing disruption to other learners. He suggests the Covid-19 pandemic has led to children losing their socialising skills and not wanting to return to structure, which has changed standards. He also says parents have a role to play in the disorder, you’re fighting on two fronts – kids and parents.
