A lawyer hired by former Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe questions the independence of an investigation into his behavior.
The Great Yarmouth MP denies accusations of bullying and harassment made by two female team members, with an investigation suggesting the claims were “credible”.
Lowe’s lawyer, Jacqueline Perry KC, stands by her report, but Lowe says her review of the investigation was “fundamentally flawed, unfair, and influenced by political motivations”.
Lowe also denies allegations of verbal threats towards party chairman Zia Yusuf and says he is the victim of a “political assassination” for questioning Nigel Farage.
A police report was made to the police over the allegations.
Lowe’s lawyer, Irwin Mitchell KC Gemma White, found that Perry had only had access to information provided by Lowe or in the public domain and didn’t know how the investigation was set up or conducted.
White claimed Perry hadn’t conducted an independent investigation and that witness statements weren’t properly noted.
Perry had “produced” witness statements on behalf of the complainants and had no terms of reference for the investigation.
Lowe believes his name and reputation was ruined due to questioning Nigel Farage.
