Pierce Brosnan was at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, where fans approached him every few minutes. They addressed him as Mr. Brosnan or Mr. Bond, referencing his four James Bond movies. He was dressed in monochrome and was gracious with them, but also evasive.
Brosnan has more to his personality than meets the eye. His co-star Tom Hardy said he is “very fortunate in the genes department.” Brosnan refers to it as “the Celtic alchemy.” He is a painter and art enthusiast and chose “The Thomas Crown Affair” as his favorite movie because he got to keep the paintings.
On his visit to the Guggenheim, he squeezed in a museum visit despite the spiral being closed. He admired canvases by Beatriz Milhazes and said “I love color, exhilarating, captivating.” He spoke about his acting career, saying it’s been part of his story as an actor to play the hero, mysterious man, and man you trust.
Brosnan is playing Conrad in a new Paramount+ series “MobLand” and Arthur in “Black Bag,” a thriller about a spymaster. He is also starring in “Giant” and “The Thursday Murder Club” alongside Helen Mirren.
Brosnan knows he can’t escape being associated with his Bond character, saying “You really can’t get away from it.” He has a charismatic presence that makes him enjoyable to be around, even on a personal level.
He spoke about why he hasn’t quit acting, saying it’s a “drug” that he needs. He has a lot of regrets in his life, including being abandoned by his father and separated from his mother. This led him to create a persona for himself called Pierce, which has become more refined with wealth and fame.
